A Smidgen of This and Dollop of That...

So, here's what you can do on a Sunday when you opt NOT to do laundry...
I spent the weekend perusing the plethora of outstanding images located at
and here are a few projects I created.
A Card
We all have that special friend who would do just about anything with you, even if it made them look like a complete buffoon.  Here's for that friend!
Colored in copics and left clean and simple

A Wallet
(This could make a cute gift card holder too)
I aimed for a faux leather steampunk grunge look and it's ALL made out of paper!

The framed gentleman on the cover is from Nicecrane Designs and is from the Charles Dickens Illustrations.  There is also a clear window sheet covering him to protect the image.
The outside is basic white paper that has been folder embossed, inked, and clear powder embossed.  The inside coordinating paper is from Nicecrane Designs paper pack Grunge Nature A2.
A few steps of the process...
I completely winged this by looking at an image of a real wallet on the Internet.  I don't have any exact numbers or measurements, but I hope the pictures allude to the process.

A Book Cover and Bookmarks
Using the Princess Nobody II from Nicecrane Designs, I've edited the image on my computer by adding a few words (Read, Dream, Explore) and printed it out onto fabric.  After fitting the stretchy material to the exterior of a book, I've sewn the edges and elastic straps on the inside.  Lastly sewing this image to the outside cover.
I included three bookmarks to match from
The schools here make it mandatory that every text book is covered for protection. In years past, I would just use a paper grocery sack; however, that tears them too. Using this technique, I think the school and the kids will be pleased. PLUS, you can personalize them with images they like.

Start by selecting an image.  Here I've added words to accompany.
Cut a sheet of freezer paper and fabric to standard printer paper size.
Iron fabric onto the shiny side of the freezer paper and trim up neatly.
Prepare the material base of the cover by sewing edge seams and attaching elastic to corners.
Sew on your fabric image to the center front of cover.

Well, laundry won't do itself so I'll end the post here.
Thank you SO, SO, SO very much for stopping in and I really hope these projects and wonderful images have spurred some creative ideas for you.  The sky is the limit!
Hugs n' Happy Crafting,
Lisa xx

Hello Q
Well we have a 'plethora' of unique projects here, I am thinking the Card is just a crack-up, and so you! Then I see the Wallet which is amazing!!! with the perfect Nicecrane image. But I think it is the book cover that is my favourite for this week, I am partial to a bit of stitching as you know, so anything with material or thread and I just ooh and ahhh then oooh and ahhh until I sound as if I am leading up to some sort of......well we wont go there--TMI.
Printing the image on your cloth and adding the words, WOw Lisa. I just love it to pieces, it always makes a pleasant change to see items created other than a card.
Magnificent work my friend.
Smiles:)
Sue.

Hello again Q
I have just seen your entry at OCC, so I should say a few more words about your wallet creation.... I am always envious of your ideas and how you can transpose them onto this media, you have such a vivid imagination; to think about using a wallet to frame your image, is just so idiosyncratic; you always think outside of the square, which is why I find you so inspirational.
You have recreated the faux leather so well, you 'wing' it perfectly.
Thank you so much for joining us again at OCC, as always it is a joy to see your work.
Smiles:)

I just can't believe how talented you are. The card was LOL funny! Now the wallet - my goodness Lisa, where in the world do you get all these ideas from? And what happens when you iron fabric on the glossy side of freezer paper? How did you think up that one? After visiting your blog, I need to go lay down and rest.

Well you sure ran the gamut on this post didn't you. LOL The dunce cap twins are hilarious. If you have a friend like this (which I do) you can totally thank your lucky stars. :-) The wallet came out pretty darned sharp for a winging it job and the book cover...what can I say. It's cool and funtional. I think you've inspired me with an idea for decorating my Bible box. Thanks Twang!

Awesome creations. The wallet is so cute and that card is colored so perfectly. I had to laugh, it so reminded me of when I picked my friend up at the airport yesterday. I dressed up for the occasion, hard hat, huge goofy sunglasses, suspenders, shorts and work boots. I am so surprised I didn't get committed. :)
