"Don't Go Breaking My Heart..."

I distinctly remember dreading bedtime when I was little. One house in particular gave me the heebie jeebies. Well, not the house, but the bed; perhaps what "lurked" under it.  I had it down to a science. Stand at the entryway of my bedroom. One hand on the light switch, flick of the wrist and light turned off while simultaneously taking one giant leap right into the center of my bed! Never never never were my feet to touch the ground when it was dark.  What's that you say? What did I do if I had to use the restroom in the middle of the night? No problem! Bed became a diving board as I stood up on it and jumped allllllll the way back to the doorway, and of course, switched the light back on!  I don't remember ever seeing a monster, but now I'm starting to wonder if I'd repressed the memories of it popping out from under my bed or my closet to interrogate me; quite like poor Tommy here.  Maybe that was my fear too, not wanting to break "Mookie's" heart.  Yes, that was his name! Mookie has stayed with me for years and if my own kids heard a weird noise or something in the walls, I simply explained that my childhood monster and I became friends and he stayed with me ever since.  So whenever something strange went bump in the night, my little ones would just say, "Mookie, be quiet, it's bedtime!"
Yes, our family has grown fond of our big lug Mookie and he has a special place in our hearts.  Which is why I've designed this card for Top Tip Tuesday's challenge We're All Hearts!
The darling green monster in Tommy's room is from Stamp Fairy and called Monsters Under My Bed 1.  The background scene is from the artist Alessandro Piedemont whom I've introduced some of his artwork on my blog before. I thought the copic colored scenery was the perfect setting to depict this blossoming friendship.
So please join us at Top Tip Tuesday where our fantastic sponsors, Stampfairy, Simon Says Stamp and Ooh La La Creations will be offering up prizes for our winners! Just remember your project has to include a heart!

Thank you so much for your visit :)

I love that Mookie's still with you... and is thankfully less terrifying now! Gorgeous colouring - the wooden furniture and the bedclothes are amazing! Another really great card, and a great read, thanks Lisa!

Oh! I had Mookie's brother at my house..he was in the closet down the hallway leading to the loo...and if you walked passed at night he might jump out and get ya!!..so you had to run, as he was pretty slow..
Fabulous card Lisa..wonderful colouring, such a great scene.

This is indeed a good night for humor! I don't know if I am the monster in the closet (I have been doing nervous eating all day) or if I am the terrified child in the bed. Hmmmm - I must be identifying a little too much. Cute card Lisa and excellent writing!

Lisa you always amaze me with your stories. Your Mookie is interesting for a child to make up and feel he will keep them safe but if it works then it is brilliant idea. Your card is so awesome, I love that it is 3D looking, it almost look like it is drawn and your coloring is so cool looking. The sentiments are just to funny. That monster is so cute....

Lisa this is FANTASTIC!! It must have taken you ages to colour but it really is beautiful. So much detail. I love the sentiment... aww poor wee Tommy.
I loved your story about Mookie :] In our house if anything mysterious happens, (or if something's broken) it's Ickabod that's done it.... Sarah xx

Mookie huh? See how well adjusted you were? Now you'd have to call Zach from Ghost Hunters to see what's going on! Love the image you used - perfect child's room with every detail exactly right - from the dirty socks on the floor to the baseball bat by the closet. So cute!!

Only you would come up with this bit of fun for a heart challenge. LOL My monster was a vampire so I always had to sleep with the covers wrapped completely around my neck---and still do. ;-) Funny what sticks with us from childhood. Course if he looked like Daddy Cullen I just might have let him bite me. LOL Hugs!

This is fabulous and the style reminds me of the old Far Side cartoons. LOVE how you taught your kids about Mookie! What a fabulous way to handle that!!!

Mine was always 'gators' under the bed, because you know they are so plentiful in Indiana... I was pretty good at leaping too!
