You're Fascinating....

One of my favorite things I used to tell my kids when they were little and I was cooking, talking on the phone, making an errand list in my head, checking homework, preparing a bottle and doing laundry all at the same time while they were calling out my name was, "Mommy can do 500 things at one time, but I can't do 501!"  I absolutely love this image from Krista at Saturated Canary and I was so happy to see that she was sponsoring us this week at Make It Monday!  Krista completely nailed the domestic goddess look here.    Besides, it's true, all us Mommies get through it and sit back and wonder how in the world we did it all...well, it's because you're just fascinating amazing people!  

I've made this card for a young friend of mine who is just now venturing into the "Cling-on" phase of parenting.  One clinging on the leg and one clinging on the hip.

No Girls Allowed...

"Snips n' snails and puppy dog tails and mud and bugs and sweat."  These are a few of his favorite things, said Scratch, the adorable little boy from Saturated Canary.  This week at Dutch Dare we are challenging you to make a card for a boy!  Oh good golly, boy/masculine cards are just not something I do too often, but I stuck with it and created this little outdoor scene that I think is just perfect for Scratch. He is now in his element with animals, dirt, trees to climb and a no girls allowed tepee! 

 

The hardest part was finding the perfect backdrop for him. Trust me, I searched and searched and finally decided to create my own.  Below is the image I drew and then chalked. Once it was finished I placed a layer of clear embossing powder to avoid smudging.

 Like I said, this was a challenge for me and I had the best time creating this card. So I know that if I can do it, you can definitely do it.  So come on over and join us at Dutch Dare for our For A Boy challenge and take a look at the other fantastic creations by my teamies.

Color It Beautiful!

I designed this sentiment on my computer and printed it out onto white cardstock first.  After scoring the card, I masked off the center and bottom of the card and then used my brayer to color the exposed areas.  Then using an embossing folder, made the little design at the bottom.  Measuring the center of this design, I pierced 6 holes and then with varying colored thread, tied French Knots.

The yellow ribbon was scrunched by sewing down the middle of it and then pulling the string.  First time I've ever attempted this technique.

After deciding on my coordinating rainbow colored papers, I punched out circles and randomly placed them on the cover, saving room for Copica.  

This little canvas I found in the art section of Walmart and came in a package of 2 canvases and two little easels.  After coloring Copica with Copic markers, I adhered her to the foam square backed canvas and then placed in the center of the card.

Like papers were cut in strips for the inside of the card and then machine sewed on the edges.  A little message area was added and faux stitching done on the edges as well.

She has the most wonderful videos for each stitch and thanks to her I was able to make the French Knots on this card.

Extra tip:  These miniature canvases and easels were really inexpensive and would be a cute  card and gift idea for someone.  By adhering the canvas to the card with foam squares, it can be easily removed and the recipient can place the decorated canvas on the easel to display.  

You could even stamp a sentiment under the canvas so it's not blank when the canvas is removed.
