A Pink Paradise of Flowery Love Sketch....

Oh my goodness, that's a title and a half, but it sums up my day making this card to meet 5 challenges.  I hope you like it.  It's sort of different for me...

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is all about A Piece of Paradise and creating a project that depicts where you find your bliss.  *WARNING - I'm gonna get sappy* My bliss is when I get to cuddle with my husband.  I think it stems from the fact that after years of him being deployed for long periods of time in the military, I finally get to keep him home and hold him and that makes me very happy!  So, for fun, I decided to do a play on their challenge title and make the base into puzzle pieces.

Creating the mixed media substrate with Distress Ink Paints, marker, texture paste and stencils, all mostly in pink because another challenge happening over at Mixed Media Monthly is all about Thinking Pink!  Each layer from the bottom to the top contains some specific elements of pink so that the theme resonates throughout.
The next layer needed to be flowers. Not just any flowers, but handmade flowers.  This wonderful challenge is for Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog where the theme is Winter Blooms.
Below you can see how I store my handmade flowers for such an occasion.
Since the flowers were already waiting for me to use, I thought I'd pair them up with some fun little handmade leaves made from Washi tapes and later painted with Distress Paint.

Now, I really needed to pull the Piece of Paradise challenge from Simon Says together with another challenge at Mixed Media Card Challenge where the theme is Love.  So here's a fabulous mushy sentiment and a big red heart.

Another close-up of the flower that has been coated in crackle glaze and the Washi taped leaves.   The placement of these items also met the criteria of another challenge at Cardabilities where they are showcasing this fabulous 117th sketch

And here is the final outcome....
My sappy little Pink Paradise of Flowery Love Sketched card to my hubby that says,
'You Complete Me'
Hugs and Happy Crafting to ya'll and thank you so much for your visit.

Joyous Day of Gratitude....

Or, Happy Valentine's Day!
I made this to meet the criteria of a few challenges for the February holiday.
I followed, for the first time, the wonderful picture tutorial for the 12 Tags of 2015- February
Holy smokes! I had no idea he'd been cranking out tags for that many years...cripes.  I'm a bit behind, but hey...better late than never.
Here's my gathering of stuff for that challenge....
Continuing to follow his techniques...
Wanted this little vintage boy on here to accentuate what is loved on this card; which is....
CHOCOLATE!!!
A play on words for "Eye Love You..."
And a side glance from this little cutie!
I also selected the ephemera based on the current challenge happening over at Simon's Monday challenge where I got to pull my favorite Valentine colors together of Pink, Red, tans and rustic white as the balancing neutrals.  Also, but not least, I couldn't wait to join in another Craft Hoarder's Anonymous challenge where you have to include the world LOVE.
And because I never know what to do with tags, I decided I would make a card base for this and now it makes me very happy!
Hugs and Happy Crafting,

Spring began with snow and has graduated into torrential downpours of precipitation in the form of rain and hail, so what better way to remind yourself of the beautiful flowers awaiting you when mother nature decides to cooperate, than to play around with decoupaged paper roses?
It's another showcase week at The Cutting Cafe and this time Regina has created the gorgeous
The country girl in me came out on this card ...hope you like it.

A closer look of four printed images, colored in Copics, dry embossed and reassembled .

Mustache Bubblegum Valentine...

Two more days and those of us that celebrate Valentine's Day will be submerging our noses into the fragrant petals of beautiful flowers and gorging (or is that only me?) on specialty chocolates while we exchange tokens of love with our special squeeze.  Here is a card that I made for The Cutting Cafe that I couldn't wait to create.  This week we are showcasing a variety of  Valentine cutting files and printable stamps from Regina's store.  My card combines two extremely versatile sets from her store called Gumball Machine Shaped Card  and Mustache Shaped Card Set .
I opted to use my Cameo to cut out every portion of this card even though these designs are easily cut by hand as well, and decided to alter the included spinning knob with a mustache instead. It's mounted with a black brad so the 'stache actually spins like a handle would.
If you're looking for some last minute Valentine ideas, be sure to stop into The Cutting Cafe to find loads of inspiration!

Flirtin' With Furniture...

Oh snap! I did it again. As serious as I may try to be, there's just something so fun about these terrific images at Dr. Digi's House of Stamps, you can't contain the comical outbursts.   Here is a very clean and simple card using the wonderful Armchair image from the Bits n' Bobs section at the Dr.'s Store and a little flirty love note written on my PC.
I think it makes a for a fun masculine card for Valentine's Day. What say ye?
Thanks so much for your visit and ya'll have a great one!

Kiss Me You Fool!

Take a little trip with me through retro TV Land and imagine yourself sitting in a classroom. As you look around, you see 'Greasers' everywhere and Afros are the stylin' hairdo.  The teacher approaches the blackboard and writes, "Who dislikes making masculine cards?" Suddenly from behind you, you hear..."Ooh Ooh Ooh, Mr. Kotter-r-r-r, pick me, pick me!!"  That's right, I'm sitting right behind you playing the role of the lovable Arnold Horshack.
What is it about masculine cards that cause my brain to seize up? Well, it's several factors, but for the sake of not dragging this post out further, I'd like to share my contribution to the world of manly-man cards and a fun little tip too.
This week at Our Creative Corner, I will be hosting and the theme I have selected is Make Mine Mushy!  There is a little twist, I've also designed a sketch to use. Here's the skinny...
Create a Valentine card using the sketch below
The sketch can be rotated and we need to be able to see all the elements from the original sketch, but used however you like. Follow it exactly or alter it as long as all elements are present.
Now let me show you a closeup of one of the elements....
Want a fun tip to add more texture to your masculine cards?
Well then, I mustache you to read the following picture....
So there you go...It's almost Valentine's Day and now you have a sketch to work with, some goofy inspiration, a little nostalgia from times past and if you step over to Our Creative Corner, you'll find even more outstanding motivation from my team.  Just remember, MAKE MINE MUSHY!!

Enforcer Ted the Valentine Bear???

It's happening all around the world.  Valentine shops are reporting assaults one right after the other.  Billions of dollars are spent each year on Dung Beetle research, yet these poor overlooked, disgruntled and mutilated  stuffed animals are not being helped, they are finally fighting back.  It began harmlessly as small unattended children would grab a stuffed animal off the shelf and play with it while the parents shopped. Time and time again, being picked off the shelf, played with, and then returned; resulting in broken threads, dangling eyes, and stuffing oozing out.  Holiday after holiday passes and these poor misshapen, semi-fluffy, worn out animals are being rejected and neglected as Valentine gifts.
Sources close to me say that a revolution is brewing. Apparently it all started at a nearby Hallmark where an irate and  envious bear, who goes by the name, Enforcer Ted, has started a movement called, TR2AB, The Right 2 Arm Bears.  Government officials are closing in on the gun cartel that is providing these weapons, but until then, we can all do our part.
Thanks to Dr. Digi's House of Stamps and this very depicting representation, we can all share in the responsibility of being upstanding citizens and not only help the innocent victims who are being threatened to purchase said bears, but by being aware and sensitive to the needs of these poor unfortunate toys.
When you're out shopping for your loved one for Valentine's Day, don't just grab the chocolate and flowers, but find it in your heart to give these sad and disheveled critters a nice and loving home.  It's much more satisfying than a whelp on the forehead from a .45.

Hugs n' Happy Stamping and be safe out there!
(no humans or stuffed animals were harmed in the making of this post)

Wood You B Mine?

The concept was great, but I'm not sure it came to fruition with this card.  I still love the rustic, masculine aspects about it, but I'll gladly take suggestions for bettering the outcome.
This is my card for Our Creative Corner where Lili is again hosting this week's challenge theme of
Use Woodgrain!  You may use a technique to simulate woodgrain, or use designer paper, or an actual piece of wood! But the woodgrain needs to be there. You also have to use at least one button.
I decided to layer my cardstock with a book page and then stamped out, using the TH magnetic tree, on the cover and reveal wood embossing from the negative space of the tree. Using the actual cut out, I've placed it atop other white powder embossed trees from SU! Lovely As a Tree Set.   Oh and of course a little Stickles heart because it's asking the question, "Wood you B Mine?"
This would be a super time to make a masculine Valentine card for your squeeze so come on over to Our Creative Corner and share in the fun.
Thanks so much for your visit.

Owl Always Be Yours...

Dutch Dare Card Challenges is hosting the theme of Winged Things this week and thank you goes out to Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps for sponsoring this week with this cute little image Opal Owl.
I decided to play around with copics and the colorless blender and had a great time creating black and white polka dots on this little hoot that is sending a message of love. The inside of the card says, "Owl Always Be Yours." Awww.....
Thank you for your visit and come on over and join in the Winged Things Challenge.

Vroom, Vroom Valentine...

Soooo....the other night in the living room, the family is sitting around the fireplace just chilling together and yet another odd conversation began, this time about cheesy pick up lines.  By the end of night and after literally hearing hundreds of them, I was torn between hysterical laughter and feeling nauseated.  I think my favorite was,
"I'm glad I have my library card because I'm checking you out."
I think we can all agree that 99% of them cause us to throw up a little...
I seriously feel for the poor young lady who gets approached with this one,
"Those must be space pants you're wearing because they make your butt look out of this world!"
I think it would be a riot to make Valentine cards with the most outrageous pick up phrases, BUT...save back a few of the more classic reserved kind like my card here for The Cutting Cafe.
I've used Regina's awesome set Feb 14 with loads and loads of digital stamps, sentiments, and just plain cute stuff!
They all come in black and white and color. All in all the set includes 82 elements to choose from.
Here's a sneak peek...

Thank you SO much for your visit and before you go, I'll depart with one last one...
"Your Daddy must own Campbell's Soup because you're lookin' mmmm mmmm good!" LOL!
Hugs n' Happy Stamping,
Lisa xx
