12 Tags of Christmas Ornament 1

Mason Jar Lid Ornament 1
I'm so excited I could pee! But I won't. Instead I'll contain my bladder and just tell you that the
12 Tags of Christmas are back for the 2014 year. Linda is off and running with her tag inspirations over at The Funkie Junkie and everyone has until December 21st to play along.

The fun in playing along is that you get to see a gorgeous sample inspiration tag, made by Linda herself, and then you create ANYTHING you want; that is of course INSPIRED by her tag, and explain what and why in your post.

Firstly, I was captivated by the vintage blue green of that bow and so I've used that color on the lid.  As usual, everything she includes is so wonderful and it was difficult to eliminate anything, but I was drawn to creating a vintage snowflake, 25, tree that echoes her silver charm, Merry Christmas and of course, Santa and the reindeer.  All paper elements were cut on the Silhouette Cameo and colored with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and then powder embossed for stiffness.

The plastic CHEAP snowflake was bought in a set of 6 from the The Dollar Tree and I dabbed it with a light coat of Gesso and then painted with Distress inks as well.  I found that drying the snowflake with a heat tool shrunk and curved the snowflake to a perfect size and gave it a very neat worn and used look.

There will be 11 more of these lids that I'll be showing over the next few weeks, but it would be so much fun if you played along and created one of a kind ornaments for  your tree or a gift for someone.

I'm so happy you stopped by today. I hope you found this inspiring.
Big huge hugs and happy crafting to YOU!
Lisa xx

Well, this is insanely good. I think my fave is the heat treated snowflake. What a smart idea! You keep this up, and your tree will be killer!

EEEEK! I am still freaking out about this idea! I love jar lids I really do. That patina color you achieved is most awesome in my book, my favorite! I too loved the color of her ribbon, it was unexpected coolness right off. I cannot WAIT to see the rest of them! Also, I kinda want to buy that die that you used for the pinetree...eek again!

Hello Q,
I was wondering if you would participate this year, I unfortunately will have to bow out again as I will not be here for Dec.
I am enjoying myself on the Gold Coast Australia at this very moment.
The lids are a wonderful idea and will suit your quirkiness perfectly,so I WILL expect to state these adjectives on each of your creations....... Amazing, stunning, beautiful, astonishing, striking, impressive, sensational, gorgeous, brilliant, remarkable, and WOW!!!! Eleven altogether for each that you have left to make.
For this lid I will use SPECTACULAR, the Snowflake is the winner and I will be trying this technique of yours, the overall effect I love and I know the lids will look great on your tree when they are all completed. I am going to enjoy seeing each interpretation of yours each week, all of which I know will be inspiring with your special and unique imagination.
Smiles:)

How could I have forgotten about your 12 days creations?! I remember thinking that I couldn't wait to see what your item would be this year and then I forgot all about this wonderful challenge!
I LOVE the canning rings idea and your first 'tag' ornament is outstanding! I love the patina on the ring and who knew dollar tree snowflakes would shrink! You did an amazing job pulling all of your favorite inspirations together into one amazing ornament!

I remember you writing about having finished your Christmas cards, so now you've got plenty of time making ornaments! My plan for this year is to make my own gift tags. So far none is made. I struggle with tags, so I'm nowhere near attempting to make ornaments, but I'm going to look at all yours for inspiration for next year, lol!
This one is wonderful!
