What Was I Thinking???

Blog challenges are always a fun and new way to push yourself outside of ones stamping "comfort" zone. Well, I must have gotten a huge shove, because I feel like I went waaaay outside of mine!  I decided to try some new techniques that I've admired for quite awhile.  Here are the results.

I present...
Thinking Outside of the Box

This is called a Bloomin' Box and it's made using Origami folding techniques.
I'm entering this for the Lily Pad color challenge that requires us to use these colors.

Click this picture to go directly to their challenge. :)

Here is the link to make the (Bloomin' Box) at Craft Stylish.
I took other pictures that I will post at the end to show some steps that might be helpful as well if you try this technique.

Secondly, since the box was really rather small and once folded, I couldn't figure out how to open it back up to put anything in it, I moved on to something more in the card direction; however, I present to you...

Fishing For More Ideas

I wanted to keep with the Lily Pad color scheme, and originally started thinking about a woven basket for an Easter card.  As you can see, this is where my brain took me instead!
My woven Easter basket is now a fish with an eyeball  ;)

Hope you enjoyed the journey through my brain and here are some extra pictures and one more project that I did just for fun.

Have a great weekend and Happy Stamping!

The (Origami Star Box) made from just one sheet of paper.

Extra Pictures for the Bloomin' Box Tutorial

The directions don't specify size of squares, but the box I posted was made with 6 (4"x 4") squares.

Depicting the center score for step 1

I folded at the center score and scored again at center point

Extra  pics to show what mine looked like

Their directions get a little vague for me, so I had to lay out the sides to really make it make sense.  This might be helpful to show you how they should link together.  Also, I used tape with mine since the cs I have is much thicker than Origami paper.

Pieced together.
If you try it, good luck and have fun! :D
