Printing On Fabric; Card 1...

Several weeks back I bought the necessary supplies, but I finally got the gumption and inspiration to print an image out on material (Thank you, Lori) and I have to say, I'm not sure what I was nervous about; other than destroying my printer.  However, everything went off without a hitch.  I used the freezer paper technique.

The image I chose is another precious digital from...

And it's included in this set called
Romantic Valentine Collection II

Here is another Valentine collage that would also look beautiful printed on material or paper.
PLUS...This just in.....
There's a February SALE going on

I adhered the material to a lightweight cardboard and then using a Spellbinder's heart dye to cut her out and mounted above the Spellbinder's Classic Frame.

My very white flower from Prima that has been painted with olive green and light blue acrylic paint and then clear crackled.

Here's a goofy tutorial to show you how I made the word "love" above.
Supplies you'll need are:
1. Thick cardboard for piercing with needles
2.) Needles
3.)  Hot Glue Gun
4.) Sheet of printer paper
5.) Adhesive tape
6.) Newspaper
7.) Thin Wire
8.) Glossy Accents

I'm sure there is a much better way to do this, but here's how I improvised.

Cover card board with printer paper so you can see the lines of the wire clearly

Space your needles out randomly for the basic word. This will give you the basis for your word, but other needles will be added as you go.
Here you can see that I've made the word love with wire.

Cut thin strips of newspaper about 1/4" thick.

Slightly raise your word up off the cardboard and use the hot glue gun to "solder" the intersecting areas.

I started by taking a long piece of paper and tried to wrap, but I found it was much easier to cut small pieces and wrap a little at a time.  Use the adhesive tape for this part.

Finished covering in paper

Covered the paper with clear crackle here.

The finished product above is then colored in olive green and baby blue acrylic paint as well.
It's kind of "sloppy" but it's my first, so I hope this gets easier with each attempt.  Any suggestions if you know a way are more than welcome. :)

I've printed 4 other images on material, so I hope to have a few more next week to show you.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
Hope this has given you some ideas to try.

Have a great one!
Lisa xx

Now you got ambitious girl! A lot of work went in to that little four letter word. it looks great and so does the image you printed on the fabric. I've printed on sticky back canvas but not regular fabric. might have to give it a whirl. Gorgeous card Lisa! Hugs!
P.S. If I could write in twang I'd have put this comment into your native language. LOL

Hello Q
Won-der-ful card.
I have printed many times on fabric, when I was patch-working, of course we did not make quilts with the Blocks as it would not last, but we made little pictures. Your tutorial was easy to follow and I am sure many will be trying this wire technique, I would be totally inept.
The cornucopia of elements and the placement on your cards make them very unique Lisa, I just enjoy looking at them so much.
Smiles:)

Holy Vintage, Batwoman!! or should I say Mad Hatter :P
I am such a sucker for vintage Valentines anyway, but MATERIAL! I can imagine the depth and texture it gives to this beautiful image! Your tutorial was very easy to understand and follow, however, I got a headache just thinking about forming the letters and then covering them!! I do have to say I love your finished sentiment though! Maybe I'll just send you my list of words to be created and you can charge me to make them!!

I really need to go check out this site! The images are amazing!

BTW-Thanks for posting my candy and just so you know, the guitar rift was running through my head for the rest of the day!! THANKS!!
