12 Tags of Christmas Ornament 4 and 5

Mason Jar Lid Ornament 4
Pumpkin Toffee Rum Spiced Coffee, Supernatural on Netflix and fingers covered in paint and glue... it's the simple things that make life great and that is why I love this challenge so much. I can just sit and create a little Christmas heirloom while I sip coffee, watch hunky men battle demons and ghosts, and just have a blast!
So here is my 4th offering for the challenge 12 Tags of Christmas, hosted by Linda at The Funkie Junkie.   Above you will notice the 4th tag of Linda's and next to it I've highlighted of few of things that she inspired me with.  I love, love, lurve the red and vintage evergreen of this tag. Completely retro feeling so I tried to capture that in my colors too. The deer are obviously wonderful as well as the berries and the Christmas tree. I decided to keep my tree traditional green and add green Stickles in various places. The wave of the ribbon and the triangle border led me to make the chevron background in this lid.
Again, a cheapy plastic snowflake covered in a light layer of Gesso and then colored with Distress Paint and heated for shrinkage and wear.

Mason Jar Lid Ornament 5
You ever slam your head accidentally into the corner of a cabinet or step on an unsuspecting tack nail in the carpet and really just lose your wits? Well, why then does it seem okay to get 3rd degree burns from your hot glue gun and somehow maintain your sanity? It must be the love of creating and making art.
Bright side, I can now pursue a career in larceny as I no longer have fingerprints.
 So, that's something...
Let's just say I really got my hands into this project!

Here is Linda's stunning tag for challenge 5 and the canning lid base.

Isn't that tag just striking?!  What is not inspiring on this...absolutely everything is scrumptious.  Linda says that she used Weather Wood Distress Paint on her tag so that is what I painted on the lid base, after first applying crackle paste.

The great thing about plastic ornaments...you can simply heat them up a little bit and then apply your own desired coverage on them. I used embossing powder here to maintain the silver theme.
What really caught my eye on Linda's tag beyond the fact that it so incredibly different from the 'traditional' colors of Christmas is that gentleman carrying a wreath. I decided that my lid would represent his wreath and have it be silvery metal in appearance.

I scavenged for random bits of pleasing pieces and then began the gluing..

Little trio of happy clusters             ready for even more gluing.
The burns were so worth it!
Since there is the word 'family' on the wreath I thought it would be fun to use the cut file of
And that's that....

This challenge goes until the 21st of December so there's still plenty of time to join in and make whatever you want as long as it's inspired by Linda's tags.

Holy moly, you really outdid yourself. The first one is wonderful and PS my "blue" is actually Evergreen Bough - LOL. And I'm gaga over the silver one. The burned fingers were DEFINITELY worth it for this one. Love the collection of silvered bits - fabulous touch. So happy to have you contributing this awesome eye candy to the challenge this year!

Hugs,
Linda

Well getting to the end of your post and seeing all 3 of your previous endeavors with this challenge was awesome L2. I love both of these but the silver one has me enraptured. It was worth every burn however I know you'll resist the larceny path lol. The first one is wonderful too just love the baubles and cutting file on the second and the sparkle of Christmas. ;) Big hugs to you! xx

Hello Q,
Fantastic and Stunning...in that order.
You, are the one inspiring in this Challenge and Linda should be very pleased that you are on board, because not only are you original in your creations but you interpret them in a way that beginners can relate to. And if that is not enough to excite one, then you go and show off your previous makes.
Your regular followers expect the unexpected from you and you never disappoint.
Great ornaments, and oh I can so relate to the hot glue gun saga, this tool is my nemesis in the craft room, they are not well designed that is for sure.

Smiles:)

I love the silver one, sorry it means you now will have to resort to a life of larceny though!

That coffee sounds pretty good too, ready made or your own recipe?

oK, burnt fingers aside, you must answer the all important question: Sam or Dean?

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, are you OK? Well, you at least must be happy because these two ornaments ROCK!

By the way, Sam for me.

I really love both but the idea of the wreath covered in silver makes me super happy! SO pretty!

and can I say I LOVE THIS CHALLENGE one more time! Rock on sister! Posting my #6 tonight.

You blow me away with these fantastic ornaments! That silvery one is extraordinary, love the combo of elements, so randomly placed in an organized way, something I'm really bad at....

You always amaze me. Your tags are fantastic another super job this year. Each one is a little different. That was a great idea to use the mason jars lids. I do remember you pass ornaments, they are all amazing. Can't wait to see the rest of them. Super job and they all look like they are so much fun.

I have something I have not decorated yet so thank you for the inspiration. You need to open up a Etsy shop so I can buy some of your heirlooms, am I related?

OH NO!! Your poor fingers! I feel your pain sister!! OMG! Horrible - the things we do for the love of crafting! Hope you are better now!! The silver mason jar is gorgeous - I appreciate that you show what all those baubles looked like before they were silver because I never would have figured this out. Looks WONDERFUL - the die cut mommy kissing Santa looks so retro and adds to the vintage look of this. The snowflakes on #4 are gorgeous too - love all the sparkle and shine. You amaze me as always! GORGEOUS!
