I passed over this little recipe box twice before going back and snagging it for 50 cents at the local thrift shop on Tuesday. Isn't she a beauty? Blue green on the outside and even though the picture looks red, that's orange on the inside.
I had a few images I'd colored up in copics for Nicecrane Designs sitting on my desk and last night, I got a spur of motivation to alter one of my 'cheap finds' sitting out in the garage.
Here is the sheet of digital stamps that I used called Colors of Spring.
Here is the new, and I hope, improved recipe box with a card.
The foundation of paint is White and Vintage Lace acrylic paint. Smudges of Black Licorice acrylic added later for aging and distressing.
A combination of frilly-ish die cuts that I had laying around combined with the circle die cut of the copic colored image in the center, all triple layered with UTEE, purchased at Linda's Zibbet store, The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
Typed up 'Recipe' on Microsoft Word and then mirror printed onto regular printer paper. After trimming out the word, I applied it to the top of the recipe box using the Mod Podge Transfer Method. Got a little too wet in places and bits of the word are missing, but it added character so I left it.
Lined the inside with vintage papers from Brenda Walton's Scrap Pad to Go by K&Company, also attached with Mod Podge.
Another image from Nicecrane's Colors of Spring, also colored in Copics, is matched with scraps from the recipe box to complete the gift set.
So? Whatcha' think? Is it worthy to place in a craft sale or should I scrap it and retry? I'm happy to hear any and all suggestions.
Thank you so much for popping in to see this project and I hope you're doing wonderful.
Hugs n' Happy Stamping....
Frilly and Funkie - Alter It (Can't decide if it's frilly or funky)

This is your weird sense of humour at play again I see, 'Is it worthy"?
I, like all who view this altered recipe box will be in full agreement that it will find a 'worthy' home at the craft fair, I am pleased you kept it fairly plain and left the letters as they were, as it certainly adds so much character to the Box.
And I adore the card.
Uh nooo. Scrapping it's the last thing you need to do. It's fantastic! I love everything you did to it, especially the title on top with parts missing. That's true distressing. LOL Great save and great refurbish Twang. :-) Hugs!

Now that box would look great - in my house! I love it! xx
Super transformation.... definitely don't scrap it! Thanks for sharing at Frilly & Funkie this week.
Well, I think the jury's in, Lisa. It's a keeper, for sure! Terrific renovation on that old recipe file - great colors and I really love the image transfer on the letters - amazing work there. I've never attempted it it it looks really cool and I LOVE the way the letters are a bit worn looking! So great to have you joining in the fun with us at Frilly and Funkie for this challenge. And thanks heaps for the mention of my little shop - sure do appreciate that!
I'm going to rebel and tell you to scrap it! As a matter of fact, I'll help you get rid of it! Just send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you. And if you happen to see one just like it in my house, I will swear it's not the one you made... :)
Love how you gave new life to that poor little neglected box! The 'oops' on the top really adds so much character and fits in so well with the 'worn' edges that you could have told us you did it on purpose!! Fantabulous work!!
So you cook too? When in the world do you have time to shop? All I manage to do is food and eating out. Oh woe is me --- nice work!
