Hugs & Kisses

Hoping to join in a few wonderful challenges going on out there in blogland with this card.
I find this image entirely precious and when I saw the little boy chasing the butterfly, I had to color it up.  It reminded me of my son this past Saturday in the garage. I had the doors open for ventilation while I was painting some furniture and I had to pop in the house for a second.  I came back out to the worst sounding thuds. A hummingbird was attacking the ceiling light! It flew aimlessly for nearly 30 minutes, with no indication it was remotely close to finding the exit.  You know what it takes to catch a hummingbird?  Well, it's not....
1.  Me standing on a ladder with a blower
2.  Chasing it around with a grocery sack
3.  Making your son take off his red shirt and flag it. (It's a bird, not a bull)
4.  Hanging a feeder by the hinge of garage opener
5. Strategically standing on footstools and ladders with fly swatters
6.  Placing assorted red items all over the driveway in hopes of 'luring' said bird. This only attracted neighbors.
Nope, not one of those...
It took one hour and 45 minutes of my son trying to toss a sheet over it.  Amazingly he managed to wear the poor bird out and the dang thing hopped onto the sheet, allowed my son to pick it up and then flew away as soon as he stepped outside.  OMG...I needed a nap, that was so exhausting watching him!  So, now you know why I had to color this image. ;)
I've colored this image Mum and Kids from Nicecrane Designs with copics and tried my hand again with the clouds using a paintbrush. Did a little 'whisping' of the brush on the grass as well.
My scrap drawer is steadily lessening as I've incorporated more of them on this little creation.
Supplies used here are a doily, baker's twine, antique brad, top note die cut, scraps of paper, tag, hugs and kisses words are rub-ons.  Accompanying the card is a completed interior as well.
Thank you so much for stopping in!
Lisa xx
Challenges I would be honored to join in are:
Our Creative Corner - Sketch Challenge (Tag was supposed to go in the bottom right, but it wouldn't fit right.  If my entry needs to be deleted, I understand) :o)
Through The Craftroom Door - Photo Inspiration (Love the colors!)

Hello Q
I can so imagine the two of you flying around aimlessly in the Garage!!!! What a drama, I think the Humming-bird must have wondered what the heck he had flown into when he came across you two. You did not admit to a few choice words or vilification towards this poor lost soul in your narration Quirks.
Your card is just divine, and you will not be disqualified re the Sketch Challenge, as you can use the sketch any way as long as it has all the elements.
It looks like a miniature painting, and it could hold a frame no problem, your extras in the lace, brad, plus the doily adds to the feminine feel of the card. It is beautifully created inside and out.
Thank you so much for joining us this week at Our Creative Corner, we are thrilled to see your work.

Your card is just darling! I love the design and your coloring is just plain amazing. Beautiful work!

Thank you for sharing your story! I'm glad I'm not the only one that ends up in circumstances like that. Last year we had 2 doves fly into our garage. I felt like I was in a comedy skit (and not a very good one at that) by the time we got them out.

I so love those little hummingbirds but have never seen one only on the TV. We don't have them in Australia but do have blue wrens they are my favorite little birds they are just too cute. Love your card its so lovely. How you did the middle of your card in a die cut is awesome. Sandy :)

This card is a real beauty - it shows off your skill in coloring - those clouds are AMAZING! You do it all - serious and humorous - all with the same thing in common - personality! I can almost imagine I'm there witnessing this scene from a storybook! Beautiful! PS Loved your hummingbird tale! I could almost picture that too! Your son playing "toro" with his red shirt - what a hoot!

Oh my gosh those clouds look amazing girl! I love how you colored every bit of this image. Fantastic card!
I have a gc to Nicecrane. Having a tough time picking out stuff cause there's SOOO much to choose from. Any suggestions for really cool stuff I should look at?
Hats off to your son for getting within pecking distance of that little sword mounted on a bird. LOL Glad he was able to recoup once outside. My mom has had several smack into her kitchen window and get their beaks stuck in the window screen. LOL
Hope you're having a great week Twang! Hugs!

Your card is precious Lisa but you make me laugh so hard at what you have written I can't see straight. Well at least you got the Hummer to leave. You are hysterical and I swear you should write a book. I loved your sweet card but oh my gosh - I love your writings most of all!

Cute, cute, cute! And so happy you finally got the hummingbird out of the garage. We get birds inside the house sometimes because they like to nest in our porch light. It's a struggle to catch the little buggers before the cats do.

And also, I've finished your custom knitted design. Would you like me to blog pics of it or would you rather it be a surprise?

What a story you shared as the inspiration for this card. I could see all of it happening in my mind and too bad it wasn't captured on video. hehehe
Your image is beautifully colored and I love the vintage feel of this card. The clouds are the perfect backdrop and you did an amazing job on them.

Lisa, OMGosh! what a fiasco! Your story really made me laugh. I can only imagine the caos and the klammering in your garage! Did you ever finish painting the furniture that day? And yes, after wards, I would need a nap, too.
But I love your card! I think your coloring is lovely. I like the blue polka dot paper as a border. It really helps ground your card and accent the blues in it. As for the boy chasing the butterfly, I hope you can now sit and laugh at the whole experience. I love how you kept the tag 'child-like' to keep in the spirit of your card.
I hope that we see more of your work.
and thank you for joining us @ OCC.

Well, first, your card is stunning, I can't believe you colored that...NiceCrane has such beautiful images, too! Just wonderful! Second, you and your poor hummer! I've never heard of one going inside although we did have one try to attack my husband's red hat which was hanging inside the door of his shed! I can see why you all were so tired! TFS!
