Hugs & Kisses

Hoping to join in a few wonderful challenges going on out there in blogland with this card.

I find this image entirely precious and when I saw the little boy chasing the butterfly, I had to color it up.  It reminded me of my son this past Saturday in the garage. I had the doors open for ventilation while I was painting some furniture and I had to pop in the house for a second.  I came back out to the worst sounding thuds. A hummingbird was attacking the ceiling light! It flew aimlessly for nearly 30 minutes, with no indication it was remotely close to finding the exit.  You know what it takes to catch a hummingbird?  Well, it's not....

1.  Me standing on a ladder with a blower

2.  Chasing it around with a grocery sack

3.  Making your son take off his red shirt and flag it. (It's a bird, not a bull)

4.  Hanging a feeder by the hinge of garage opener

5. Strategically standing on footstools and ladders with fly swatters

6.  Placing assorted red items all over the driveway in hopes of 'luring' said bird. This only attracted neighbors.

Nope, not one of those...

It took one hour and 45 minutes of my son trying to toss a sheet over it.  Amazingly he managed to wear the poor bird out and the dang thing hopped onto the sheet, allowed my son to pick it up and then flew away as soon as he stepped outside.  OMG...I needed a nap, that was so exhausting watching him!  So, now you know why I had to color this image. ;)

I've colored this image Mum and Kids from Nicecrane Designs with copics and tried my hand again with the clouds using a paintbrush. Did a little 'whisping' of the brush on the grass as well. 

 My scrap drawer is steadily lessening as I've incorporated more of them on this little creation.

Supplies used here are a doily, baker's twine, antique brad, top note die cut, scraps of paper, tag, hugs and kisses words are rub-ons.  Accompanying the card is a completed interior as well.

Bringing In 2012

I'll be lucky if I actually make it to midnight, but I'm going to give it my best shot.

Just incase I can't stay awake that long to send out copious emails and texts,

here's wishing you all a wonderful, happy, prosperous and safe new year!

In honor of this momentous event I've created this card to wish you all the very best!

I've used Bugaboo's cute JJ Tequila and Shoes - 5 o'clock and staged her to look circa 1920.

The image is a photo of New York's Time Square on New Year's Eve. 

Thought I'd color her in black and white to match the background with pops of red for color.

As for the sentiment, well....

I just love Phyllis Diller and her humor seemed fitting as we proceed closer to the New Year's toasts.

 Happy 2012!!!

The couch is calling me now, but I do wish you all a fabulous New Year!!

Now that the hustle and bustle of Christmas is finally over,

we can all sit back and relax and reflect on the wonderful blessings that we shared with our family and friends and take time to recoup for the upcoming 2012 shopping madness!

It will take me that long to gear up, I'm sure.

Here's my card

This little critter is Bigsby, colored in Copics, from Karen's Doodles.

I think he's so cute, he can hold his own in a CAS Christmas card.

I typed the sentiment on my PC 

and printed out the cheese and wrapped a ribbon around it.

I'm never too sure about CAS cards, but I think I'm likin' the outcome of this one.

Here is my card

I'm using a new image from the Nicecrane Designs 

Fascinating Betsy Hill collection.

They are colored in golden and cream hues of Copics and highlighted with some white glitter.

 Tree Lighting Ceremony

The tree was stamped in Versamark and then gold embossed.

Copics were then used to highlight the trees colors, keeping with gold, cream and white.

White dimensional glue was added for snow and Buttercup Liquid Pearls for the baubles.

The embellishments are flowers made from golden tulle wrapped around a thin wire and twisted and the leaves are embellished with white dimensional writer as well.

I added the ticket, which came in a vintage Visions of Sugarplums blog candy that I recently won from

 Lori Hairston (Thank you, LORI!)

 and it worked perfectly as their pass to the tree lighting celebration!

I hope everyone is doing well and getting all ready for the holiday season.

I was freaking out a bit with the preparations, but I'm pleased to say that within 3 days, I was able to start and finish all my shopping (even stocking stuffers), made 11 gift card holders, wrapped all the presents, mailed out all the cards and finished the baking and caught a lovely cold from my daughter!

I'm so ready for a holiday break!

I recycled this year and used brown grocery bags and tore apart 2 bundles of tree ornaments from the Dollar Tree.  

I went with a country-cozy theme this year.

I've not done a lick of shopping yet because I've had a sicky kiddo at home this week.

Yes, this is my excuse and I'm stickin' to it; regardless of any arguments that might be cast regarding several other weeks in the year to shop....it's the principle of the matter and I shall not admit in any tangible form that I have procrastinated in the least.

However, I have made this card and that HAS to count for something, right?

I always loved the idea of having a magic Snowglobe that could let a child look to the North Pole and see the progress of the elves working away and in hopes that Santa himself might pop into the room.

So, I had to go with the idea.

I followed the tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers here for the card.

Santa was a free coloring page image on the internet.

Both the workshop and Santa are colored in Copics.

Extremely Odd Christmas Card....

BUT, 

if you know me, 

what else would you expect?

As a matter of fact, I've recently been nicknamed "Quirky"

and I am SO very honored.

So, thank you, Onion. :)

I think I'm definitely ready to move on from making Christmas cards, but as soon as I saw this free image from 

Karen's Doodles called Sitting Turkey,

my brain went and did its usual thing.

My (almost last I hope) Christmas Card???

Karen's Doodles is having a recipe challenge that requires 3 embellishments, 2 papers and 1 image.

I've chosen 2 papers from Stampin' Up! 

Embellishments are the sign, the neck tie and the flowery ensemble at the bottom and this adorable image colored in Copics, from Karen's Doodles.

 My twisted humor

Typed on my PC

I decided to name the turkey Jake because it rhymed with plate and the irony of this little guy is that he knows he's the long awaited gift at the dinner table!

I also layered Jake's head and feet with foam dots.

The end!

DOH! One more thing...

Another funny that my husband sent me...LOL

He knows me so well...hahaha!
