It's 2 degrees as I type this and I've lost the sensation in my toes, but between the 3 pair of fuzzy socks and the warmth in my heart from this lovey-dovey card, I should be just fine!

Mason Jar Lid 10

I can feel the start of a tear drop building up inside because I know we're so close to finishing up this challenge and that makes me feel like Grumpy cat.  Until then, however, I am having such fun creating my renditions of Linda's tags.  Below are the supplies that I used and how I start the base of every lid before I color it.

Linda's tenth tag...let me just say, "WOWEE!"  What is not to love with that glorious patina and then the vibrant reds and that luscious golden lattice with holly leaves. I took it all in and had some fun!

That background color pretty much screamed at me, demanding that I include it in my ornament. So, of course, when something is yelling at you, you comply!  Or throat punch it, but that didn't really apply here.  So I made the patina holly.

                                                  They began as white cardstock that was later glazed with clear crackle glaze and then inked with various greens shown above.   Berries of Stickles then finished up.  Couldn't for the life of me keep my thumbs out of it either.... ergo random red shimmers.                                                                                                    

                                                                      The vibrant red mason jar is reflective of the reds on Linda's tag.  I did however have to try this technique I saw recently and it's on making DIY ornaments by Stamptramp.  It makes things look so wonderfully vintage!  She also uses clear plastic in her ornament and I decided to use packaging plastic as well.  It gave me a clear background AND cut the circle while salvaging the opening for hanging, as seen here.

Worse thing under the tree is a package of tighty whities.

Don't forget that!!

So let's all keep our inner child happy and remember back when..

Now you can see why I like the packaging plastic. When it hangs on the tree in front of the light it looks like they are sneaking downstairs by the light of their tree to look at all the presents Santa brought them!

Rosette Silhouette Valentine Ornament #2

Roses are Red

Violets are Blue,

 but a black silhouette

really says,  "I LOVE YOU!"

As promised, here is the second idea in a set of 8 ornaments for Valentines Day to either use to decorate a tree or to embellish a gift, or whatever your heart desires.

Using the Cameo Silhouette cutting machine, I cut out border strips to form the rosette. 

Second, I cut out doilies to support the rosette.
Thirdly, cut out lovey dovey silhouettes to showcase.
Lastly, an assortment of embellishments like feathers and petals and handmade rolled roses to accompany it all. 






  Each rosette had a pile that looked  

         like this for assembling.

Ornament #1 - Vintage Crochet Heart Ornament

Chase Your Dreams....

Welcome back ya'll! 

I have an inspirational shadow box to share with you today for the newest Make It Monday linky party  Our sponsor this week is the ever incredible Bugaboo and this time around I chose one of their quotes to use on my project, titled, Chase Your Dreams.  

This shadow box is made from a 12x12 piece of cardstock. To stiffen it up a bit, once folded, I painted on a layer of Gesso and it gave it a nice sturdiness.

My cutting machine is not liking the texture of my black cardstock, either that, or I don't have it on the correct setting, so you can see a few "snags" in the silhouette images, but this was my 4th attempt to cut them out and well...I think it works just fine.  I thought the little girl chasing a butterfly would be perfect and the sentiment above and the single butterfly all come from the Silhouette Studio Store.

Silhouette Sleigh Ride Ornament

Getting right to the chase because I'm so extremely thrilled with this challenge and I can't wait to give you the link to it, here is my DT creation for Our Creative Corner where the marvelous Marcy is hosting again this week and her challenge is to use Silhouettes! 

Originally I had a card all planned out, but then came across this free groovy template for a miniature suitcase at Mirkwood Designs and decided that a 3-dimensional setting would be more fun for a silhouette and then went one step further and turned it into an adorable little Christmas tree ornament.  I'm including all the links so that you can make one too. They are so super easy! 

The template, as is, will make this little box which measures 2.5"x 2", it's the perfect ornament size! I just used white cardstock and wood embossed the parts.  Coloring it in with Bordering Blue and Bliss Blue ink then aging it with distress inks in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.  The pine cones are made from one TH Tattered Pine cones die and cut into three parts. The ivy, leaves and tree as well as pine cones were then painted with Gesso.  Three cotton balls pulled and glued to the bottom of the suitcase where I've mounted the cute little boy and girl silhouette having a wintry sleigh ride together. I've spritzed the cotton balls with a water and glue mixture and then topped with fine glitter.  All in all this took me about 30 minutes to make.  How cute to have these covering your tree?

A Hero In Their Eyes...

A Soldier by his calling,

Loving husband to his wife.

 But to those that call him Daddy,

A hero in their eyes.

 Stars and Stripes and or Independence Day is the theme for our current challenge at

Top Tip Tuesday and this is my card using three seperate silhouette images surrounded by an Americana feel. Each strip has been wood folder embossed, lightly covered with gesso, acrylic painted, UTEE embossed, crumpled and then vintage stained for distressing.

A very simple background that allows the images to tell the story.

 We have had the best time seeing all the outstanding entries from our last challenge and we certainly hope you can join us this time and show us your take on Independence Day and/or Stars and Stripes!

Silhouette Butterflies....

Well, hello there again and welcome back!

 You ever seen that movie, Cool Hand Luke?  There's a famous line in it that goes, "What we have here is...failure...to...communicate."  Seems my brain recited this several times through the process of creating this card.  It's absolutely NOTHING like I visualized; however, mission accomplished anyway.  I found it quite difficult to make this gorgeous image 'dainty.'   Don't get me wrong, I love the image, but I saw it going more in a monochromatic path, so this jobby is completely off the mark from what I intended.  I'm actually pretty pleased that communication within my own head was garbled, it's different and I like it. :)

The designer paper is a free digital download from Far Far Hill.  Accompanied with a bit of stitching, three layers of the silhouette image Butterfly Flowers from our sponsor Bugaboo.  A few UTEE covered flourishes and leaves from the TH die Festive Greenery.  Die cut leaves from Stampin' Up as well as the brown punched flowers with Baby Blue Stickles and pearl centers.
