Cupcake Camp KC

 Hello there!
So what do you do when it's raining outside and you'd rather not clean?
You crochet miniature cupcakes for key chains!!!  Right???
Here's a little sneak peek at what I'll have for sale in April at Cupcake Camp KC. All proceeds of my booth will be going to this wonderful cause and I just wanted to make a little post about it to help spread the word. If you live in the area or have someone you know who does, or would just like to help by donating, I've included the link above and below by just clicking on the photograph.  Please feel free to post the image on your side bar if you'd like also.
I'm only a little bitty part of this wonderful event. There are going to be local cupcake shops and bakeries competing for a cupcake bake off and tons of yummy cuppy cakes to taste, fun activities for kids, raffle tickets and well...tons more and it's ALL for the KIDS!
Facebook link also is here

I'm no expert at this crocheting stuff. My wonderful grandmother taught me how and I am SOOO far from her level of expertise, but if you like these little cupcakes, here is the pattern I designed for these cuties.
These are not decorated fully yet, but the sky is the limit on how you choose to embellish them.

Cupcake Base (fine yarn)
*Chain 4, connect with a slip stitch, chain 1
*Going to inside of the circle, crochet 8 single crochets inside the ring, join ends with a sl st and then chain 1
* Single crochet in all previous 8 chains, end with a sl st and then chain 2
* Dbl crochet in each of the 8 chains (twice) ; 2 dbl chains inside each of the 8 previous chains; connect dbl chains at the end with a sl st and then chain 1.
* Single chain all the way around to add the finishing top to your 16 chains; secure with a knot to end off.

Cupcake Top (heavier yarn)
*Chain 4, connect with a sl st, ch 1 (to form circle)
*Going inside the circle single crochet 8 times around, sl st ends and chain 1
* Going inside the circle again, single crochet 8 more times around, sl st ends, chain 2
* Going inside the circle again, single crochet 8 more times around, sl st ends, ...
- You can finish off the top here with a knot or continue single crocheting to get the size you need for a rounded cupcake top OR
- Loops for the cupcake fringe/icing
*Chain 1 and single crochet into next chain
*Chain 3 and single crochet into next chain
repeat pattern until you have a scallop around the base of the cupcake top and end off with a knot.

Assembly
*For a handle, make ribbon loop and pull it through the top of the cupcake center with hook and seal with hot glue.
*Placing the cupcake base to the top, sew with thread and needle to each other until 3/4 way attached.
*Place filler inside of cupcake until desired "puffiness"
*Continue sewing until pieces are fully attached and seal off with a knot.
*Decorate the 'icing' however you wish
- Add pins for a shirt decoration for a birthday party or key rings for a key chain or however you wish.

Hugs n' Happy Crocheting and Thanks so much for stopping in
and thank you if you decide to help share this information. :)

That which doesn't kill you....

 Makes a GREAT t-shirt!
I designed this shirt online today....here's why...

(My Christmas gift to you all...
The gift of laughter, even at my own expense.)

My wonderful kids brought home some lovely germs last week from school and in their generosity and selflessness, decided to share their bounty with me.
As much as I love when they share with me, this could have been overlooked and I would have been perfectly fine without it!
Nevertheless, these crappy germs have found solace in my body and I'm not quite sure when they plan to depart.
Seems this gift has soooo many wonderful side effects to it and cannot be experienced all at once, oh no....!
Apparently, it's like an advent germ,
something new each and every day.

I'm stubborn and I try NOT to take medication, but this gift, that keeps on giving was really starting to get the best of me so I caved and decided to liquor myself up on NyQuil.

I haven't had a good nights sleep in several days and was beyond thrilled at the idea of 6 possibly 8 hours of solid uninterrupted sleep.
The coughing fits at night were just about to take their toll.

So here I am, flannel pink penguin pajamas, fuzzy aloe purple socks, long cotton t-shirt, chest bathed in Vick's menthol cream, cough drop in mouth, all cuddled in to bed.
I set the sleep timer for 30 minutes on the TV, flip through some channels.  Find the travel channel and cozy into my pillow for a deep amazing sleep.
The coughing starts...
Getting annoyed, I grab the remote to our bed,  yes, we spoiled ourselves with one of those massaging, elevating head and feet thingies; which I might add, DO come in handy when you're coughing and need to prop up a bit.
No biggie, grab the remote, press the + button on the head, "mmmmmmmmm" elevation up, perfect! So, sooooo comfy.  Coughing ceases and the waves of over medicating start taking affect.  Sedation is kicking in, in....5,4,.....

Some time in the night, I vaguely remember hearing a familiar noise.  I'm not registering it as the phone, or the alarm clock or the sound of my kids, so....I disregard.
Sweet, wonderful sleep....you are so good to me.
Yet, that droning noise is still ever present and does not seem to be subsiding.  At this very moment I become vaguely aware of my mild discomfort.
I try with all my might to pry one eyeball open and that is when I realize,
OMG!!! I'm MOVING!!!
Damn NyQuil anyhow...
I'd fallen asleep with the bed remote and forgot to put it back on the nightstand!

At this point my forehead is rapidly preparing to introduce itself to my kneecaps and panic sets in as I "try" to roll over and hop out.  NOPE...not happening...
Stupid ergonomic technology with the foam cushion that "hugs" you while you sleep...
Hug? My pink fuzzy penguin flannel butt, hug!
My bed is trying to kill me.
Just then my hand makes contact with a remote control and I think I've found my salvation; which is a terrific thing, because my ankles are now in a place that they haven't been in in 20 years,  when I realize it's only the TV controller and I fling it across the bed and hear this...
"ting!.....thud!"
ARE YOU KIDDING ME????
I've just thrown the TV remote directly at the bed remote causing the bed remote to fly off the bed  and has just hit the floor!
This couldn't get more fantastic.
At this point, I realize that the situation has turned to kill or be killed.  I can either fight or  kiss my butt goodbye; literally, because at that moment I had a pretty good view of it!
When suddenly, the aggravating hum of the plush iron maiden torture device stopped!
OH THANK YOU, LORD!!!
I managed a few Matrix moves and something I'd seen at the circus where the people swing acrobatically in the air on thin strips of material and wa-la!
I'm here to tell the story....
Moral of the story....
(I'll leave that to you to decide!)

I even thought I should write to Sesame Street and pitch this idea for their show...
"Today's Letter ,U, is brought to you by Tempur-Pedic!"

Merry, Merry Christmas EVERYONE and a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
Hugs and Happy Stamping!

God is Good, God is Great and He Can Stamp Too...

Hello!!!
Wow, I'm incredibly inspired today.
Just finished blog stalking and saw some really incredible inspiration out there.
So, thank you for that....on a daily basis!

I don't have a card today, not for lack of trying,
which is why I'm posting this....

After commenting this morning, I had to go out and bring the trash can in from the curb.
Never been happier to retrieve a garbage container before because as I was headed to it, I just froze.  Right smack dab in the middle of my driveway.  Spongebob pajamas, sweatshirt, blue fuzzy slippers and all, frozen, with the silliest darn face you've probably ever seen.

I think sometimes I'm in such a hurry, that I don't see or fail to recognize all the beauty around me. Well, it was apparent that I was supposed to see this.

Can you see all those spots on my driveway?

Here's a closer look...
All over the place!

Some are filled in...

Some are just the outline...

I had to run in and get the camera just so I could always see how God stamped my driveway!

I've been spritzing water on leaves like a maniac now for about an hour and foam pressing them on paper and nothing, nada, zilch.  I cannot duplicate the image.
I was trying to go "green" and just use natural elements, (ie...leaf, water) but it's not cutting it.
Anyway, maybe it's not for me to duplicate, but just to enjoy and that's exactly what I'm going to do!

I hope that you all have a wonderful day and thanks for letting me share my little moment of personal inspiration with you.

Hugs,
Lisa xx

A Milestone in my life....

Well, it happened.
My son turned 16 on Friday.
EEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!

I mentioned in an earlier post that I would show you pictures of his cake.

'Cause really, what says,"I love you, son" better than a sick and twisted zombie cake??

Here is a picture taken from the internet of the original cake.

And here's what we did to it...

I made her the ring leader of the zombie forest animals

I know he's 16, but his favorite number comes from the movie The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
In the movie, 42 is the number from which all meaning could be derived.

Who knows, maybe I have a future in mutant birthday cakes??
He seemed very happy with this creation.

No, I said happy....

There, that's better! :)

Happy Birthday Mr.B!!!!!!!!

Actually he did love the cake and now I'm tasked with making something even weirder next year...

P.S.  Grandma also celebrated her 85th birthday with us that day and she loved her basket of goodies and ALL the cards.  :)

That's grandma on the right behind the basket. :)

Addendum:
No real animals or humans were hurt or injured in any way in the production of this yummy
Dairy Queen Cookie Dough Blizzard Cake.

Better Than Ed McMahon!!!???

As wonderful as it would have been to have had Ed McMahon show up on my door step with a huge check and a ton of balloons from American Family Publishers, sadly, those days are gone.

I'll always remember his unique little chuckle as the side kick to  Johnny Carson on The Tonight's Show.
This era of comedy will always be missed...

However,
There might just be a wonderful replacement to this fond childhood memory and it's called...

As much as I dreamed of winning the big bucks back in the day...I'm thinking I would be over the moon with this amazing team of DT's.

So here's the scoop...
Take a moment of silence to remember the greats that made us all laugh and giggle and then hurry on over to this blog because they are currently having a

See?  It's for real! ;)

In the words of the late Ed McMahon....
"If you enter this sweepstakes and your name is drawn, you might be a WINNER!"

Good luck to you all and pass on the word!

Happy Stamping :)
