Jimmy Stewart Meets My Milk Carton

This is my second post for the day,
but if you missed my tutorial on how to
destroy your iron in 3 easy steps,
in conjunction with my The Squirrel & The Fox Post,

This IS a WONDERFUL Life
My 6th milk carton for Linda's ever inspirational
12 Tags of Christmas Challenge
at the
Here is her outstanding tag...
I love absolutely everything about this tag, but the challenge is to draw inspiration from certain items and then create your own (whatever you want to make) project, based on what you chose from her tag.
I focused on the angel and the doily and the tag shape.

My favorite Christmas movie is
It's a Wonderful Life,
and decided to incorporate the angel from the movie into my milk carton.

Clarence, The Wingless Angel and George
I copied pictures from film clips of the movie and used the photo editing application, Paint,
to place them into this clipart picture of a 1940's television set.
Then cut out wings from a Tattoo website and placed them on either side of the TV and
lastly adding a bell between the wings with 3 little tags.

Since the movie is a black and white production, my intention was to stay with that same theme for embellishments.  I included a black scalloped square and a white doily square beneath the TV.
The black scallop has 3 diamond gems; representing the need for us to shine, even in the darkest of times and the white doily has a letter on each side.  All four sides spell out W-I-N-G.

 The Famous Movie Quote

3 Little Tags
Even though Clarence, the wingless angel, shows George what the world would be like if he was never born, I used the tags to represent the "past, present and future" events that Clarence reveals to George Bailey and how he alone had, does and will touch people's lives in a positive way.

I used Stampin' Up! paper to make the carton
 Scrap cardstock for the embellishments
Glossy Accents applied to the TV screen for a glassy shimmer

If you're still with me on this post,
Thank you SO much for dropping in.
I hope you're having a wonderful and creative day!

The Bestiest of the Bestest...

Fun With Crayons???
Little peek at my DT card for
The SQUIRREL & The FOX
I'm thrilled to announce the 3rd challenge at the still very new and
WONDERFUL CHALLENGE BLOG!
Today's challenge is...
ONE FOR THE GIRLS!
So stop on over to
and check out what the other mega creative DT's have made
just for your inspiration!

Bestiest of the Bestest
When I saw this challenge, I just knew that I wanted to make a girly card that "looked" like it was finger painted by a little kid for her BFF.
BUT, not wanting to get elbow deep in paint I had the brilliant idea of "googling" techniques using crayons.
OMG...what a mistake that was!
I found this REALLY easy technique and it looked wonderful.
Here's how you do it...
1.) Get out your iron and heat it up
2.) Once warm, take crayon of choice and draw (literally draw) ON your iron
3.) Place iron onto the cardstock in desired spot
4.) Iron will begin to hiss and steam out a waterfall of colors you've never imagined
5.) Iron will then begin to stink to the high heavens, fumes of which I'm certain, should not be inhaled
6.) At this time, frantically unplug your iron and run screaming- mad through the house to the front door.
7.)  Place iron on the front porch while it's still erupting rainbows of color...neighbors WILL stare.
8.) Slam front door and giggle
9.)  Just so inquiring minds really have something to talk about, retreat to your recycling bin and grab empty wine bottles and place them outside next to the iron.
If they're going to talk....make it good!
10.) Return to your crafting table and state quite vociferously "NEXT!"

Sentiments were typed on the PC

Inside of Card
Added a little button that fit perfectly with the card and sentiment.

I refused to be defeated so I considered alternative heat sources...
1.) oven - no!
2.) stove top - uh uh!
3.) Solar energy - takes too long
4.) Talking to it with my hot air - LOL..didn't really consider this
5.) Heating tool - BRILLIANT
After making the BFF card, I played around with some other techniques and came up with this.
I really love the textures that crayons give and it really does look and feel like you've finger painted!

Silly Crayon Doodle One

Crayon Doodle Two

Scenery Doodle Three

Phew...what a day, but the final result was a great deal of fun,
good laughs and fond memories and a trip to replace the iron.
Thanks so much for stopping by...I love to read your comments. :D

A Beary Merry Christmas To You....

Grin & Bear It
The original plan was to make a window sheet ornament,
but these cute little images really needed room to decorate so I left the ornament window open.
This card is for

With our wonderful sponsor

Here is my DT card for Make It Monday's Challenge
Using Beary Merry Christmas from
Cupcake Cards & Craft

Fold a 6"x 6" cardstock on both sides to meet in the back evenly.
Select another cardstock solid or DP of the same size and adhere it onto the white cardstock.
Cut with a Spellbinder's Nestabilities Die, your window shape of choice, through both sheets of paper,
being sure to save one of the cut die shapes to use as your ornaments "roof' or topper.
Adhere the back sides together and decorate your ornament.
I used a hat pin for the hook and pierced through ribbon to make the hanger.
There was a gap between the front and back of the ornament so I just folded a piece of cs into 3 sections and adhered one edge to the inside front to make a "stage" of sorts and then piled on mica flakes for decoration.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you at
for another inspirational linky party.

Directions To North Pole
The beginnings of my milk carton #5 for Linda's renowned

Here's her outstanding tag
Each challenge is about drawing inspiration from her tags and then creating ANY project that you want to based on what inspired you from her project.
Here's what I took from the tag
Linda's = Mine
*The Burlap flower = "Burr" & "Map" Snowmen, from burlap material, giving directions
*The gorgeous golden letters = The golden embossed conifer trees
*The golden vintage brads = hardware screws for sign posts
*Black stamped images = Black bold colors on the snowmen (made from electrical tape)
*The earthy tones = I used twigs from the yard for their arms
*Shiny bling - Stickles for berries, face, & buttons.  Mica Flakes for snow. Acrylic writer for snow.

And People Look at Me Funny...

Say, What?
This is my Top Tip Tuesday DT card
which is based off our our
VERY COOL
challenge!
It's...
SKETCH TIME
Incredibly fun sketch by our very own
Samantha!!
(I've rotated the sketch to fit my card)

Here's our always fantastic sponsors:
2 digi images for a lucky winner
and
Any 1 of their CD's.
and
Last but not least,
our NEW sponsor.
2 Awesome, AWESOME digis!

My tip for this week at Top Tip Tuesday is
Give your stand alone images even more character
by adding a scenery to "explain" their pose or stance.
I love the expression on Tambry's face.
It looks like she's trying to figure out what is going on behind her.
So, I added a witch flying upside down.
Sort of to say, "And people look at me weird?..."

I hope you stop over and try out the very cool sketch
and check out what the other DT's have up their sleeves for you!

Nightmare Before Christmas...

If you're a Tim Burton fan, sorry I don't have any movie themed cards to post,
but the songs keep ringing in my head.
"This is Halloween, this is Halloween..."

Halloween Window Card
I wanted to play around with some different card presentations and my new stamps,
so after a few hours of humming Halloween movie songs,
here is a card I came up with.

Window card with Stampin' Ups! Greeting Card Kids
and some extra images I downloaded from the Graphics Fairy website.
Traced a photo stand off of a frame I had onto cardstock and placed it on the back.
I'm pretty happy with this little 3D vintage looking Halloween window card.

Here's another one I made that started out with great intentions,
but I'm not sure where I lost track of the vision.

Mr. Hoo got Boo'd
I punched a circle near the center of the cardstock and then pierced holes around it.
Sewed a cobweb (using this term loosely as it looks more like a dream catcher.)
Made a frame from Nestabilities to hide the holes and then I was stumped.
Hand drew the spider and placed 2 branches to the right with the owl and
then it looked like I had a floating spider web in the middle of the sky.
Decided to add more branches and now it looks more like the web is secured.
I'm not sure what I think of this one, but it has some cute concepts.

Happy Halloween card making!!
