Beware the Witching Hour ....

Hello and welcome back.
Your journey has brought you here...so enter if you DARE!
ALL the fun is happening over at Sparkle n' Glitter (Fall Theme) and Airless Chambers (Halloween Theme) with tons of inspirational Autumn ideas using images from Rick St. Dennis Etsy store.

Here is my sample offering for the Sparkle And Glitter Fall theme, titled...
Beware The Witching Hour
Have you ever seen those fabulous altered art alarm clocks? I LOVE them; however, I can never seem to find one used, so I thought I'd try my hand at making a paper one!

The entire project was inspired by this fabulous image you may all know as Ichabod.

Here's a pile of silhouette cut pieces that I started with to assemble the clock.
Image on the left shows the beginning of the clock. I actually cut out a pattern for making a circle box and then omitted the lid but instead created a lip for the top of the clock instead.  The picture on the right shows how I altered wooden pegs and bottle caps to make the clock elements.

Every bit of this was painted in Gesso to prime for Distress inks for the antique appeal.
The background clock image is free from Far Far Hill.
The top mechanism's that have been distressed with metal embossing powder.
Also, can you see just the little bit of what looks like cobweb cheesecloth hanging over the edge? That's a recycled dryer sheet..works excellent for cobwebs!
Ichabod all situated inside surrounded by a bench for him to rest on, hanging bat by the light of the moon and randomly placed inner workings of gears and cogs.
Now since the traditionally altered clocks are metal and have paper flowers for embellishments, I thought it would be fun to reverse that process.   Since my clock is paper, the flowers needed to be metal so I cut up two soda cans.  Priming them with Gesso and then inking with Adirondack inks, I've got a wonderful fall colored arrangement of lovely flowers that spell out E-E-K!

Side view...
Project completed!
And there you have it...my first ever alarm clock that won't annoy me!!
Thank you so much for stopping in for a visit.

And now...
my offering for Airless Chambers (Halloween theme)
Goody-bag o' Horrors!
Using the same pattern for a circle box as I did above for the clock, I sized it much smaller to make a circle goody bag then sized the picket fence to cover the circumference then aged with Vintage Photo DI and accessorized with the incredibly awesome and gruesome digital stamps from Rick St. Dennis.

I've colored up Monster Clown with copics.
Here is his partner is fright, Zombie Clown centering a rosette and a spooky tag with googly eyes.
See the cobweb stuff again?  More recycled dryer sheets...Love that stuff!
Plus a fun little mummy chocolate bar that I've glued eyes on too.
And that's all for me today, but be sure to stop by all my teammates and check out their makes for Fall and/or Halloween using the groovy images of Rick St. Dennis.
Thank you so much for your visit and your time. I really appreciate you!
Hugs,
Lisa xx

Outhouse Holiday Wishes....

I'll be honest...this is a first for me!!
I've never used an outdoor restroom to send holiday well wishes, but.....
I love a good laugh, so when I saw this image from Rick St. Dennis' Etsy shop titled Outhouse Noel 2012, I knew it had to come home with me.
The frame was cut twice and layered for sturdiness. The Outhouse Noel, colored in copics, was UTEE embossed three times for maximum gloss and then frozen in the freezer for 30 minutes, cracked and then stained.  The image is covered here so that I could stain, ink and paint the frame.
The sentiment and a little sled added for winter embellishment.
Greenery from TH Tattered Pinecone and stacked poinsettia flowers from Silhouette Cameo and hand punched snowflakes added as well.

If you're a fan of these adorable little outdoor bathrooms, you'll be thrilled to know that Rick has an entire series of them you won't want to miss.
Icons below are linked to each Rick St. Dennis store or blog.

Thank you SO much for your visit!!!
Biggest hugs and happy stamping to you!

A Little Coffee With Your Creamer??

It's always stupid o'clock when my alarm goes off.
The only thing that keeps me from transforming into a total bear is the sound of percolating coffee.
Yes, it's a repeating theme here lately on my blog, but I as I mentioned earlier, Carla has a BFF and here she is colored up in copics, the ever fabulous Morning Goddess Betty.
Like her? Love her?
She was created by the ever amazing artist
Rick St. Dennis and you can locate his entire Esty shop here.
I hope this finds you doing well and enjoying your day!
Thank you so much for the always entertaining messages you leave and your visit.
Hugs to you and happy crafting!

Bitsy at the Beach in Lime Green

It's time to head the beach in your fanciest flip flops and this little cutie can you join you because it's the August Freebie at Sparkle and Glitter!!
The ever fabulous artist Rick St. Dennis is graciously sharing his talent with us all and this time around we're headed to the water....
Don't you think she's just adorable in her lime green bathing suit?
Rick challenged his DT to color the suit with a color beginning with our first name initial.  Lime-green it is!

Say hello to Bitsy at the Beach!
Now, the flip-flops...I cannot take credit for this design completely. I was absolutely  inspired by Lori Hairston's post here and the flip-flops are a cut file from the ever creative Regina at The Cutting Cafe and can be found here.

Normally there is a freebie challenge either hosted at Sparkle and Glitter or Airless Chamber (for the darker more macabre images), but the EDT is taking a little break, but the thoughtful Rick himself is still sharing not one, but two freebies this month.  Please check out Airless Chambers for the other freebie, Tworki,

Awww...Tworki, he's such a flirt!
How cute!!
Okay, I've given you tons of fun links, freebie images, oodles of inspiration and hopefully a fun visit to my blog.  Please be sure to stop by Rick's place at Etsy and tell him thank you and I hope you'll have fun creating with these wonderful freebies!!

Hugs to you and all thank you SO much for your visit!!
Before you leave, be sure to stop by my little table and grab your matching set of flip-flops, snorkel, glasses and of course, SPF 1000.

Christmas and the Macabre....

Hello wonderful crafty friends and welcome back!
Today I have such a fun post as I have had the incredible opportunity to create with images from an amazing artist by the name of Rick St. Dennis.  If you've heard of him, I need not say another word, if you haven't....Oh my word...check out his Etsy Store here!!!

My hope was to create something 3D with these elaborately detailed images and so here is my matching gift set of an ornament and card using the fabulous EEK A Mouse digital stamp.
The process began by sizing it, printing it out 8 times in black and white and then coloring each of them one after the other to duplicate the look.  Yes, I could have colored one and then copied it, but seriously...something this fun needs to be colored manually.
Cutting out two Stampin' Up! Apothecary Accent frames as the ornament base, I then fussy cut around 2 of the colored images and double foam mounted them to the ornament base; creating the front and back of the holiday gift.
Then the fun and tedious part of deciding which aspects of the image to decoupage, I cut out each section from two extra colored images and applied them with crystal effects and then repeated on the opposite side.
(Santa's hat and leg, Snowman's hat, Elf's face and knee, little mouse and the golden star were all decoupaged)
Once the decoupaged pieces were in tact, I punched out the holiday greenery using the Tim Holtz Festive Greenery in a soft blue and then inking with Old Olive Ink.  Gluing the greenery into place on the front and back, I then added the red Stickles for berries, frosted the snowman with crystal effects and the fluffy white trim on Santa's outfit with Snow-Tex.
Since this is designed as a gift, I wanted this ornament to have a sentiment on it, so using the Cameo Silhouette machine, I cut out a banner shape and then designed the sentiment to fit the scenery.
The wording was applied with clear crystal effects and the edges of the banner were inked in Antique Linen.

Last bit was to attach a bit of vintage red wire so that this gift will hang from a tree proudly.
Here is the card that I've designed to match the ornament, also decoupaged, but with flatter surface area so it's not too difficult to fit into an envelope.
There you go...
Project one for Christmas, but.....
Now to another holiday using even more incredible images from Rick St. Dennis.
Halloween!

Here is a fun little 3D Haunted Mansion to sit on the entry table come All Hallow's Eve
using the following images from Rick St. Dennis himself.

Colored up in nearly every Copic marker I have and then carefully using the X-Acto knife to remove the glass panes from each window.
Picking out a simple 3D house form on my Cameo Silhouette, I cut out a black house that would be used to transform the flat image into a workable 3D lighted image.
Below to the left you can see that I've attached the black 3D form to the inside of the haunted mansion and then re-cut the windows again. To the right below, you'll see the actual folded house that I'll bend and wrap the colored mansion around.

Setting the mansion, the resident and the unsuspecting trick or treaters to the base of a flipped lid with glue, I then sprayed the base with TH Dylusions black ink.
Below you can see how the white turned to the perfect shade of hazy, creepy, gray.
Introducing the resident of the spooky mansion....
How awesome is she?????? Totally awesome!

Here's our little Trick or Treaters all ready to receive their surprise....mhwahahahaha
To add a few elements of eerie ambiance to this incredible mansion, I cut out a few trees, gated pieces, and hanging bat by light of moon as well as the required quota of tomb stones in the yard and then glued bits of moss and dead grass as well.
The image above is how it appears when under indoor lighting and just about to be transformed into the most fun nightlight and topic of conversation for our Halloween callers....

Oooohhhh, creepy!!!
If you love the holidays and you love the ability to color images from cute to creepy then I highly recommend the wonderful works of Rick St. Dennis.
Here is the direct link to his Etsy store  and here is the fabulous blog.

Thank you SO very much for your visit and I appreciate all your time and comments truly.

I promise that I will return, probably NOT rested, but eager to see what you've all been up to.
I miss you SOOOO much!!

Hugs to you all and happy crafting,

Applying The Brakes...

Hello all you fabulous blog buddies!
Well, it's the end of the month and we are finishing up the personal challenges between Onion, Mitza Pitza and myself.  The final theme this go around was to
Create 2 cards (Clean and Simple & Shabby Chic) Using Same Design or Colors....wow!!

The above card is my Shabby Chic version using the below paper sent to each of us by Sue (Onion), our common element.  You'll find this paper in the flag and arrow on the left side of the fence in each card.

I thought it would be fun to repeat not only this shape and paper in each card, but the same main details as well and derive a completely different appearance in each; at least I hoped I would.
So next I "applied the brakes" and created my CAS version...
I had such an incredible time creating these projects with a few of my blog buddies and just as before, I cannot wait to see what Sue and Mitra have created for this doozie!
Thanks so much for your positive feedback and wonderful comments.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate you.
 Okay....it's a BUNCH!!!

Hugs n' Happy Stamping to you all,
Lisa xx
