Your Life Is A Canvas...

Thank you so much for stopping in for a visit, I hope you enjoy the card and the amazing challenge that we have going on over at
Trust me, you are going to have "sew" much fun with this one!
The challenge for this two weeks is:

Joining in the fun with her amazing images at
is Krista, who is also one of our sponsors.
She is offering the first prize winner...
2 Digi images from her Etsy store!

I never thought I'd see the day where there would actually be an image that represented one of my most favorite things....
Copic markers.
But lo and behold, Krista has done it and I couldn't be more thrilled with this little gem, affectionately named Copica.

Oh, but the fun doesn't stop there, we also have another fabulous sponsor, Debbie, from
Who is offering a second winner 2 digital images from her online shop.
But wait,
there's more!
You won't want to miss Janette's fantastic sewing tutorial where she compares real stitch work to faux stitch work!
PLUS, the incredibly talented DT's have been busily making some superb inspiration and are also imparting tips to help make your sewing experience even better.

Color It Beautiful!
I designed this sentiment on my computer and printed it out onto white cardstock first.  After scoring the card, I masked off the center and bottom of the card and then used my brayer to color the exposed areas.  Then using an embossing folder, made the little design at the bottom.  Measuring the center of this design, I pierced 6 holes and then with varying colored thread, tied French Knots.
The yellow ribbon was scrunched by sewing down the middle of it and then pulling the string.  First time I've ever attempted this technique.
After deciding on my coordinating rainbow colored papers, I punched out circles and randomly placed them on the cover, saving room for Copica.
This little canvas I found in the art section of Walmart and came in a package of 2 canvases and two little easels.  After coloring Copica with Copic markers, I adhered her to the foam square backed canvas and then placed in the center of the card.
Like papers were cut in strips for the inside of the card and then machine sewed on the edges.  A little message area was added and faux stitching done on the edges as well.

I'd also like to include that my tip for
Top Tip Tuesday
is to check out this stitching website by
Mary Corbet called Needle n' Thread
She has the most wonderful videos for each stitch and thanks to her I was able to make the French Knots on this card.

Extra tip:  These miniature canvases and easels were really inexpensive and would be a cute  card and gift idea for someone.  By adhering the canvas to the card with foam squares, it can be easily removed and the recipient can place the decorated canvas on the easel to display.
You could even stamp a sentiment under the canvas so it's not blank when the canvas is removed.

Okay, that's it for me on this card but before I go,
A huge welcome to my new blog buddy followers and and as always,
thank you for making my day with your motivational comments.

Can't wait to see you over at

Hugs and Happy Sewing....
Lisa xx

Hello Q
Copica.... what a gorgeous name, This is a wonderful piece, and you have made it perfectly, by not adding many elements you have kept the focus on her, and oh how you have painted her up so beautifully, she has the biggest eyes and I just adore her.
Your ribbon work is just that extra bit of dimension to create that extra little interest along with your French knots.
Just one question Q, does she come with feet?
You can make lovely little flowers by drawing up ribbon with stitching perhaps I will do a tutorial!
Smiles:)

Oh, my goodness, Lisa! You've made so many gorgeous and inspiring cards that it's hard for me to pick a favorite, but this one is definitely a contender! I love everything about it. The fact that I'm positively mad about color doesn't hurt, of course, but it's your design and copic coloring that sends me over the moon. I wish I had just a whisper of your talent! I'd be in seventh heaven.
Hugs to you, my sweet Friend. And thank you for another inspiring card.

I love your version of Copica! I haven't gotten her yet, but she's on my wish list. Putting her on that little canvas is such a fun idea Lisa. I think they just had those marked down to next to nothing at my Mike's. Lots of fun techniques on your card. :-) Hugs!

Another amazingly, wonderful creation! So envious of the French knots! My Mom tried for years to teach me how to make them, but I have never mastered that stitch. The gathered ribbon is such a great border and Copica is stunning! You have insane skills my friend!! BTW, where do I redeem my laundry coupon? My DH doesn't seem to want it!

Wow Lisa! I love everything, and I mean everything, about your card. First, your coloring is amazing!!! Copica is perfect and I love how you popped her up on that canvas, too cool. The use of the brayer, stitching and faux stitching, that awesome ribbon technique, and your wonderful sentiment with those bright french knots are perfection.
Also, for non-sewers like myself the tutorials you shared with us are SOOOOO helpful and enlightening. Many thanks to you my friend!!
Huge hugs & congrats for being so talented,
