What was I thinking???

Well, after 17 years of marriage, my husband finally decided he would trust me enough to cut his hair! It's a simple cut, a buzz thingy, not a high and tight, but simple. It's skin to the almost the top and a patch of hair that barely sticks up on the top. How difficult could that be?  The price of haircuts keep going up and I thought it was ridiculous to pay $10 every two weeks for something I could do at home!  OH MY WORD! What was I thinking???  What took the hairdresser 5 minutes, took me over an hour.  It's not so simple at all. There's the setting you have to do at 1 all the way around the head and then change the setting to 2 on the top and then skin up to the 1 and then fade the skin to the 1 and then fade the 1 to the 2 and then angle the fade and........AHHHHH!
By the first half hour I had him looking the rapper MC Hammer, just needed to put him in some parachute pants and he was ready to shoot a video.  At this point I really began to give more credit to the hairdresser who did this for a living, but by the last half hour, I was getting the hang of it and was pretty sure I could send him out into public looking fairly respectable.
In the end, he was happy and thankful that I didn't completely botch is head up and I was thankful that he had enough faith in me to try!
So, after that I needed some "down time" to relax and thought this card would be perfect for a give thanks or a funny masculine birthday card...what's your thoughts?

Would you like to make a Thankful card? After all Thanksgiving is just around the corner. If you do, Dutch Dare is hosting that very challenge.  We'd love to see what you are thankful for or to (I'm thankful to hairdressers all around the world).  It could even be just a "thank you" card.

I'd also like to thank Robyn's Fetish for this wonderful image, My First Haircut. Pretty sure this isn't the intention of the image; BUT..I think it totally works.  Secondly, I'd like to thank Tracy for the much needed mojo and allowing me to "case" her card layout here.  Lastly, I would love to give thanks to all of you who stop in so often to see what my weird and quirky brain has come up with this time.  You all are so very much appreciated.
Happy Stamping!!

Hi Lisa, this reminds me of the time my brother let me cut his fringe, many years ago. I kept going up at one side, so I'd have another go and go up at the other side, so I'd have another go....you get the picture. Safe to say he never let me near his hair again, lol

This is why people need a video camera pointed at them every day. I am sure you could've won AFV with that show!
Good for you for being so brave!

Now that's a great marriage! I cut my husband's hair once (he has beautiful long hair with natural curls), he doesn't let me near him with scissors.
Fantastic card and love all of the awesome layers and how you've done the sentiments.

Hee hee snort snort Guess we've both been in the piggy mood lately. :-) Love the layout and thanks for the shoutout GF. Your hubby must not be the tenderhead mine is. I finally gave up cutting his hair. All he did was complain. Totally fun card Twang! Hugs! Hick

Oh dear... home haircuts - possible disaster - glad to hear it came out okay in the end! Love your barber shop card - gorgeous layers of detail and a fab image. Having my hair cut tomorrow... slightly nervous now!

Lisa, this is such a cool card! Love your image and choice of papers and embellishments! I've come to the conclusion that I'll leave the job of cutting hair to a hairdresser. My sister is a hairdresser and I get yelled at each time I've been doing some homework on my hair - she always discovers it! I also leave hair dying for her. The last time I did it myself, the hair looking quite good but what a mess to clean up - I did scrubbing and cleaning for days, with so many products to remove every trace:) Have a nice weekend!

I HAD to read this post to DH because he was a bit concerned that I had lost my mind laughing at the monitor! He wears a short flat top and keeps trying to convince me to cut his hair...um...no thank you! My barber skills stop at trimming by his neck in between haircuts! So impressed that you made the effort!!
LOVE the perfectly fitting card! The old advertising DP is awesome and I love that fun image!!

I don't know what you were thinking but here in the South we make sausage out of our pigs not give them a hair cut! But you are on the right track - it will soon be butchering season so he is "hair" today and gone soon enough. Besides Lisa - I ain't never seen no pig sittin' in a chair!
You are so funny honey. My husband is getting pretty bald (he is still hot) and only has to have a buzz cut every now and then. Living this back in the hills I don't think he pays too much over $5. I should learn how to do it --- I do shave his neck for him and the very tippy top of his head now and then. I just use a regular ole razor blade. I am careful around his neck!!!! If you get my drift.

I could almost picture you cutting your DH's hair! You are a very brave girl! I wouldn't have attempted this either! What were you thinking? I guess if you mess up it will always grow back and you can try again. I bet you did just fine - probably turned his head into a work of art!!

Leave hair cutting to the professionals - that's a MUST - don't ask me how I know. Fun and funny card - love it!
