View Finder Card...

I still have mine! 

Thanks to my wise Mom, who never threw away the cool toys from my childhood, I can still enjoy watching Sleeping Beauty, with sound, on my original View finder. What saddens me is that when you Google an image of it now, it comes up under Stroll Down Memory Lane; Vintage Toys!!!!   (GASP, GAG, COUGH, CHOKE..moving on...)

So, when Elaine at Top Tip Tuesday decided to host this very cool challenge of Moving Parts, it had to be a view finder card for me.

And now you know...

You're not alone if you've wondered and now it's okay, you're not alone.  Many of us have been closet "wonderers"of what goes on between icicles.  There has to be something...they are huddled so close together on our gutters each and every winter season. Well, thanks to the wonders of technology, I have been able to capture this rare photograph of icicles in action and finally, now you know!

Meet Iris, Indy, Izzy and Ivan Icicle as they dangle from my gutter. Yes, this a real picture of the gutter and how fun is that to take an actual photograph and use it as your own backdrop? Well that's my TIP for today because it's time for a CHRISTMAS theme over at Top Tip Tuesday and this cuddly little bunch is from one of our sponsors Stamp Fairy titled Group Hug; although by the looks of it, I highly doubt Iris is quite thrilled with a group hug right now. ;)

"Don't Go Breaking My Heart..."

I distinctly remember dreading bedtime when I was little. One house in particular gave me the heebie jeebies. Well, not the house, but the bed; perhaps what "lurked" under it.  I had it down to a science. Stand at the entryway of my bedroom. One hand on the light switch, flick of the wrist and light turned off while simultaneously taking one giant leap right into the center of my bed! Never never never were my feet to touch the ground when it was dark.  What's that you say? What did I do if I had to use the restroom in the middle of the night? No problem! Bed became a diving board as I stood up on it and jumped allllllll the way back to the doorway, and of course, switched the light back on!  I don't remember ever seeing a monster, but now I'm starting to wonder if I'd repressed the memories of it popping out from under my bed or my closet to interrogate me; quite like poor Tommy here.  Maybe that was my fear too, not wanting to break "Mookie's" heart.  Yes, that was his name! Mookie has stayed with me for years and if my own kids heard a weird noise or something in the walls, I simply explained that my childhood monster and I became friends and he stayed with me ever since.  So whenever something strange went bump in the night, my little ones would just say, "Mookie, be quiet, it's bedtime!"

Yes, our family has grown fond of our big lug Mookie and he has a special place in our hearts.  Which is why I've designed this card for Top Tip Tuesday's challenge We're All Hearts!

The darling green monster in Tommy's room is from Stamp Fairy and called Monsters Under My Bed 1.  The background scene is from the artist Alessandro Piedemont whom I've introduced some of his artwork on my blog before. I thought the copic colored scenery was the perfect setting to depict this blossoming friendship.

Sparkles Galore, literally!

Hello!

(long winded post...reader beware...LOL!)

 I'm so glad you stopped by so I could rant.  Almost had this little card completed.  I could see the finish line, when my elbow; yes, my elbow, decided to plunge right smack into the center of this card and not only smeared all the glitter onto my shirt, but the glue under the little pink Bear's mouth...dragging the inked outline right up into her paper pieced mouth.  Miffed you asked?? Ohhhh, just a bit!

Error on the operator's side? Quite possibly as I am not known for having the most patience while waiting for blobs of glitter and stickles to dry.  I figure 30 minutes OUGHT to be a sufficient amount of time and it usually is, but not today!

Another 30 minutes later, after wielding an X-ACTO Knife and scrapping up all willy nilly  remnants of glitter, I gently re-applied the stickle dots and allowed them to dry completely whilst making sure no other appendages decided to go wandering again.

The last step was dealing with the smear on the mouth. I decided that if it works while coloring with copics, why not with inked outlines.  So I applied the colorless blender pen and pushed the black ink back to the edge. 

 BUT...then I went and grabbed the wrong copic to "fill in" a bit on the mouth and now it's too dark of a pink! GAK!   I've decided I'm just going to put a boat load of money in the card and they'll NEVER even notice! :) 

 Anywho, enough of that...

Blissful Moments...

 Hello there!

I'd like to introduce you to Molly and Sam; Love 4. 

This cute little guy giving his little lady a piggyback ride, is a wonderful image from our Sponsor Stamp Fairy, and they are helping us out at Top Tip Tuesday for our challenge theme of

Spotty Dotty

 For this challenge I paper pieced Sam's overalls and Molly's shirt and copic colored the rest.  I've added little white dots for accent on the clothes and then dotted a background around the couple and a spotty dotted button in the center of the bow.

The hues of the clothing leaned more towards earthy textures so the background is brick embossed foil with a layer of corregated cardboard and then a layer of burlap.  All of these items were purchased at Linda's wonderful Zibbet store, Linda's Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I tried to leave the sentiments fairly vague so that this card would be versatile for many occasions.

Take Deep Breaths And Make A Card...

I don't know what inspires you to make cards; whether it's perusing blogs, magazines, sketches, photographs, music, etc.  The possibilities are pretty much endless.

This DT card I made for Top Tip Tuesday's Challenge was inspired by a young teenage girl in my home who recently had her phone taken hostage.  Said child, whom I love and adore, and yes, I continued to remind myself of this by stating with deep breaths, "I love her, I love her, I love her..." so as not to completely erupt; until a certain bedroom no longer looked like an F-5 tornado had wreaked total havoc in her little quadrant of the world.

I used to go to the movies for entertainment, but since becoming the mother of two teenagers, I've discovered there's quite a bit of amusement in watching the reactions of your kid's faces when you inform them that they've had certain electronic privileges removed.  Have you seen the horror movies where the unsuspecting vampire is exposed to sunlight and instantly they start to wither, smolder and contort in excruciating pain? 

Yep, that's my kids.

I'm happy to announce that her bedroom is spotless and has remained so.  She's only been granted brief visitations with her phone, but after a good amount of time I'm sure they'll be happily reunited.  

Here is a piece of furniture she found while cleaning up and this is my card inspiration.

My daughter and I did a revamp on her armoire.  There was a shelf inside, but we took that out, painted the backboard, and put up a pretty floral contact paper on the sides.  The doors were taken down and she painted the insides with chalkboard paint and then put the knobs back on backwards.  They're pretty and she wanted to see them.

I really love the colors she chose and I don't know if it was the ambiance of this piece or the fact that her room was spotless, but I was inspired.

So what do you do with a butt-load of left over contact paper?
