Cruisin' Vintage Style

If masculine cards are not your forte, you're not alone, it's not mine either. However, a great challenge is one that makes you face your nemesis and so that's exactly what the ladies over at
Our Creative Corner are doing this week for their challenge.
The minute I read it, I knew I had to make a card about cars.  The theme is...
Men's Passion, Hobby or Interest.
How flippin' fun is that? Sooo fun!
So, here's what my man loves....
CARS!!!
If it's got wheels, an exhaust (loud preferably) and goes 0-60 in some stupid crazy time, he's all about it.
I researched the new 2013 Boss 302; which he is currently drooling over, but I couldn't find the exact picture I wanted, so I changed gears (Ha! I just made an unintentional pun there) and went with a classic '57 Chevy.
The background is a cool image of a garage and coffee shop back in the good ol' days (coffee is another passion of his) and thought it would make the perfect backdrop for this red beast.
I printed the car out twice, cut out the silver fin and wheels from the second picture and layered them over the first for more depth with foam squares.  Placed the old $0.15 magazine image the SoCal ad, Missouri map, route 66 Missouri sign, Cruisin' sign, the Fire Chief gas pump and silly sign that says "Still plays with cars" and I thought I was done...LOL!
Silly me,
You can't put a car on display without a sweet wax job, duh!
Can you see the gnarly shine on that red boat? That's the handy work of my husband using Glossy Accent!  He was right, that looks sooooo way better.
Anywho...that's my card and I had a fantastic time creating this vintage masculine card for the challenge theme over at Our Creative Corner here.
Maybe someone else out there can relate to their man's love of cars.  I don't get it.  Then again, they probably don't completely grasp our love of colored sparkly glue either.
Touche!
Hope you're having a great week so far!
Thanks for Cruisin' by my blog....

Lisa :)

Oh, Lisa! It touches me so much to hear that your sweet fella helped with this card. How supportive of your passion! And the card is amazing! I'm going to try to do something like it just to challenge myself. It won't hold a candle to yours, of course, but it will satisfy me and that's all I'm going for.
Hugs to you, my sweet, sweet Friend!

Hello Q
How urbane that your other half feels the need to spruce up the car--d with Glossy accents! It is remarkable to me that he even knows about this product, let alone how it works!
Route 66-how classic, all the elements are wonderful and represents the Challenge so very very well, you have made an amazing card, it has got passion written all over it.
Thanks for joining us again this week at Our Creative Corner, we are enjoying seeing all the Toys and Passions of our Men folk, it is very enlightening.
Smiles:)

Can't go wrong with a '57 Chevy - we had one when I was little! Love, love the dimension on your card - it's fabulous!

OH MY!!!! If this is not the ultimate in testosterone themed cards... LOVE how you arranged everything and was so impressed that DH added the shine! Maybe I should send him a bottle of GA with our next card shipment!! teehee! I'm not sure my DH would know what this was, much less how to use it!
The manly passion in our home is anything with an engine (two wheels or four!) so this is right up his alley! Alley! Ahhh another punny!!

I'm in the same boat with you. Not the Chevy hee hee, but hubby is a car lover too--1966 Mustang Fast Back is his dream car and no, he doesn't get my love of colored sparkly glue either. LOL you've used that fabulous imagination of yours to it's fullest again on this amazing card. Great composite of all things "manly car buff". Hugs to ya Twang!

Thank you Lisa for your kind words on my blog. I have been looking through yours and I love your style, I wish mine was more like it, but I tend to change my style from month to month I think! LOL. I am sure some of the greens I used which I tend to use a lot would be yg21, 23, 25. can't remember what others I used.. probably had some prisma pencils on top too.
Hugs

Love your card {pardon me, yours and hubby's card} with all the little details included for us to ponder over. You are so original in your approach and I agree that the Glossy Accents was a cool touch! :-)I love that Route 66 sign too!!!

Truly wonderful! I do think you should be a professional writer. I remember when my parents had one of these "little" babies. It was bright yellow. Of course that was way before you were born.

Fantastic card!! I really love your work!!

Thank you very much for your nice comment on my blog, I really appreciate it.
What was needed to get my husband interested in my hobby was the purchase of the Cameo ... it was actually his idea. Apparently it should be something with a motor ....
